EMPLOYEE WELLNESS PROGRAMS CAN IMPROVE EMPLOYEE RELATIONS TOWARDS ORGANIZATIONAL SUCCESS

Wellness programs that meet the physical, emotional, social and psychological needs of employees contribute greatly to healthy employee relations. In theory, these strategies contribute to organizational support, trust, and everything else necessary to create a committed, collaborative, and productive workforce.

In achieving healthy workplaces, we must be careful to incorporate a holistic approach to health. That is, a healthy work environment should include supportive physical, psychological, and social resources. In addition, we used a range of individual health indicators (i.e., mental, physical, and behavioral), a range of organizational health indicators (e.g., performance, turnover, customer retention), and a range of social indicators (KELLOWAY & DAY) 2005).

Responsibility beyond salary

Social exchange theory (SET) suggests that relationships in organizations are based on exchange value. Employees give their work and commitment, while the organization provides them with rewards and benefits, including rewards, recognition, and welfare programs If the welfare program is clear If it is fair and generous, employees feel that the organization is worth more than just salary. This feeling of organizational support strengthens the psychological bond and fosters positive employee relations (Blau, p. 1964).

Sri Lankan standards of employee welfare

One of Sri Lanka’s strongest competitors in the multinational apparel industry is MAS Holdings. What sets MAS Holdings apart is their people-oriented culture. They establish a clear mission from the beginning to focus on the well-being of their employees and strive for healthy change. MAS’s leadership puts people above profits and fosters a work environment that supports a fulfilling, healthy lifestyle.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of workers, MAS Holdings, Sri Lanka's largest exporter and South Asia's largest manufacturer of apparel technology, has once again stepped forward to help struggling communities in the garment industry. The company’s latest employee welfare and benefits program is introduced as the country as a whole faces one of the most severe economic crises in history (Anon., 2023).

Employee welfare program at MAS

• Dry food supplied by MAS to more than 80,000 employees and their families and other service providers.

• MAS Sisu Diriya - Staff for 80 buses for ordinary level examinations by 2022. School supplies and fuel for children.

• Mental Health Services - Increase the number of mental health counselors in their plants, providing guidance and counseling as needed.

• Manudam Mehewara: A humanitarian program benefiting 119,000 families.

Conclusion:

To create workplace excellence towards organizational success, HR must give priority to employee well-being while maintaining healthier relations. Leadership can create a more engaged and productive working environment by investing in welfare events. Sri Lankan HRM has given the utmost importance to the process of employee well-being.
