Resilience is a complex concept
with numerous definitions. Central to most of these is the notion that
resilience involves being able to withstand or overcome adversity and
unpleasant events and successfully adapt to change and uncertainty (McEwen, 2011)
Resilience in an effective company defined
as the ability of individual employees and the organization together to adapt,
recover, and evolve in the face of challenges, disruptions, changes, and
economic or environmental crises while sustaining productivity, efficacy, and
well-being.
Organizations are increasingly
challenged by today’s business context. Terrorist attacks, economic downturns,
global financial crises, uncertainties in the competitive market and political
and social conditions threaten an organization’s competitiveness and survival.
To successfully overcome these conditions, organizations must develop a
capacity for resilience (Bouaziz & Smaoui
Hachicha, 2018).
HR
Practices to Improve Resilience Inside the Organization ….
Places where resilience in the workplace became reality….
Google has prioritized worker health during the pandemic, established long-term remote work guidelines, and provided occasional "reset" days. The issue came out from more than 130,000 Google workers, and they used "Resilience training," a term typically used for fighters and elite sports.
Employees regularly watch the brief weekly educational videos that Google has produced and developed, which feature athletes, coaches, and psychologists. Staff members often view the brief weekly training videos created by athletes, coaches, and psychologists.
Thirty thousand Google employees
watched the films in less than a month. To promote awareness and "
prioritizing wellbeing " for their third-party
employees, including contractors and temporary workers, Google also hosted 150
virtual events worldwide.
The organization offers access to
first-in-market treatment, when necessary, yearly health screenings, emergency
pre-employment testing, and medical fitness evaluations. The goal of the Healthier
You program is to give employees useful assistance in managing
their mental and physical well-being and achieving their objectives. At
Unilever, occupational health plays a significant role in all their personal
health initiatives.
The modern workplace is
increasingly stressful and unpredictable, requiring an efficient, productive
workforce for organizational success. A fruitful workplace will create through
an adaptable employee who can grow from the setbacks. Human resource management
practices will help sustain workplace resilience through various kinds of
wellbeing programs, training, and coaching events, as well as resilience
policies.
